With the worst snow storms seen in China for decades still battering the country, questions are being raised about the government's ability to handle the crisis. Some of the millions of people stranded at transport terminals in freezing temperatures have complained of lacking medicine, or being unable to use toilets. Chinese television has broadcast footage of passengers fainting in the crush as they rushed to board the few trains still running. The authorities say they've mobilised a million troops to help with the chaos, and electrical workers have been struggling to restore power in blacked-out cities.
